Beringer Zinfandel
Title Beringer Zinfandel
Description Californian Zin, 2005
Sent by Magic

I've never drunk a zinfandel before so I wasn't sure what to expect but, for the most part, I wasn't dissapointed.
My sample came in a statdard 75cl bottle with a screw top for around £5. The back goes on to say:

Founded in 1876, Beringer Vinyards is the oldest continuously operating winery in the Napa Valley.
Hand crafted this Zinfandel showes characters of dark berries, liquorice and fruitcake. The palate is rich and soft with spicy notes. Enjoy with a wide variety of meat dishes or rich tomato pastas. 13.5% vol.

Well it's certainly got dark berries by the bucket load and the taste of liquorice is evident. Tastes of old safe comfort, it holds up to the established discription of the grape variaty. I wouldn't be upset if I was offered a glass.
The only real poor point for this exact bottle was excessive acidity and a somewhat stale taste but I don't think this was inate to the wine rather it had been in the store room too long so I've deffinately got not qualms about sampling another bottle.
